Czech universities are included in various international rankings, such as the QS World University Rankings 2024 by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.
The criteria used in these rankings includes the learning environment, reputational demand, staff-to-student ratio, doctorate-to-academic staff ratio, research, citations, and more.
In addition, five Czech universities are included in the top of the best universities in the world according to the Shanghai ARWU ranking. This list is topped by Harvard University, Stanford University, Massachusetts University, and Columbia University. In 2022, the top 1,000 universities were selected from 2,500 institutions around the world, and among them are 8 Czech universities: Charles University, Masaryk University, Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Technical University (ČVUT), and Czech University of Life Sciences (ČZU) in Prague.
