Stelios to attend World Maritime Day

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou may be better known for his founding of easyJet, nd his ever-expanding easyGroup of companies, but he has also had a very long association with shipping. His father was a significant player until he retired from the tanker business, where his brother still operates. Stelios founded Stelmar Tankers, a modern fleet of primarily products tankers, when he was just 25 years old, and sold this operation last year to the OSG Shipping Group for approximately $1.3 billion. His interest in shipping continues with the launching of easyCruise.
He will be attending the celebrations on the the Wellington in London to mark World Maritime Day on September 28 when he will address the participants and the assembled media on the importance of shipping to world trade, and the importance of attracting good young people into the industry.
